Dating back to the late 18th century, this pretty 4-star bed and breakfast is located at the top of Chard's quaint High Street. Free private parking is provided and Ammonite Lodge has a garden filled with beautiful flowers and plants. Each bright room has a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi access. Breakfast is served in the dining room, which features a large, brick fireplace. Packed lunches are available on request. The Ammonite Lodge is named after a 300 million year old fossil that was found in its walls. The Chard Museum is opposite Ammonite Lodge, and shops, restaurants and bars are within 200 metres. Herons and kingfishers can be spotted on the Chard Reservoir, which is just 5 minutes' drive away and is stocked with carp for fishers. There is a secure locked garage for bicycles and motorbikes to be stored in.
